HomegrownHandmade.com is a project aimed at stimulating statewide sustainable tourism and showcasing the state's rural riches. The Web site grew out of a project funded by the Golden LEAF Foundation that uses agri-Cultural tourism to encourage travel to areas hit by the decline in tobacco. Partners include the North Carolina Arts Council, Duplin County Cooperative Extension, and HandMade in America.

NC Coast Host was formed in 1981 to facilitate a cooperative effort between visitor bureaus, attractions, accommodations, historic sites, and other tourism related businesses along North Carolina's 300 mile coastline to promote this area as the preferred vacation destination in the southeast. Members of NC Coast Host enjoy the benefits of cooperative advertising, internet presence, bimonthly meetings, a comprehensive network of contacts, participation in familiarization tours, as well as representation at state tourism meetings and in the Travel Council of North Carolina.
